With Heart Local - Charity Highlight

Brigitte Broad, Store Manager of Gloria Jean’s Coffees Helensvale, has seen what it’s like for parents to experience a deep loss. Last Christmas Eve, Brigitte’s sister and brother-in-law, lost their son, Kaiah, who was born too soon at just 22 weeks old. Brigitte’s sister says that saying goodbye to Kaiah, and walking out of the hospital without him in their arms, was the hardest thing they have ever had to do.
Throughout this difficult time, Brigitte shares that although her sister was helped by friends and family, she needed more support. The charity, Bears of Hope, who help parents suffering the loss of their baby during pregnancy, birth or infancy, provided that support. As a symbol of comfort and support, parents are given a Bear of Hope (see image) to remind them that they are not alone, and there is people to journey with them as they heal their broken hearts.
Brigitte, as part of Gloria Jean's Coffees, With Heart Local campaign, has decided to raise funds for the charity, Bears of Hope, through the Helensvale Homeworld coffee house. Helensvale Westfield, Mt Isa and Robina Promenade coffee houses are also supporting the charity. Bears of Hope don’t currently supply to Hospitals on the Gold Coast, and so Brigitte and the three other QLD coffee houses are seeking to change that. Their fundraiser is in memory of little Kaiah.
During July, Gloria Jean's coffee houses are supporting charities in their local community. We’ll be sharing stories from coffee houses across Australia throughout the campaign. Don't forget to visit your local Gloria Jean's Coffees to see how they helping your community!
